Originally, this land was owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), which leased a total of 40 acres to the Quilchena Golf Club. On February 11, 1956, the CPR's lease with the golf course expired, and the Park Board stepped in to purchase the eastern section, designating it as Quilchena Park. Meanwhile, the western part of the golf course was transformed into Prince of Wales Secondary School.
